32nd Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony

Here are the Facebook post and pictures from this sombering ceremony I attended. __________________ "Honoring all officers who have died in the line of duty in the State of Washington. We will NEVER forget. As of this year, there will be 327 names engraved on the memorial, with the additions of: • Officer Diego Moreno, Kent Police Department (End of Watch: July 22, 2018) • Detective Derrick W. Focht, Kent Police Department (End of Watch: April 7, 2017) • Special Agent Timothy A. Ensley, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (End of Watch: June 24, 2018) In 2017, a new K-9 Memorial was dedicated honoring all K-9s who died or were killed in the line of duty in Washington. There are 24 names engraved on this memorial. The Spokane Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Project is a non-profit that relies strictly on donations for the upkeep and maintenance of this memorial. Donations may be made out to LEOMP, and mailed to 924 W. Sinto Ave. Spokane, WA 99201-2540."

Candidate Forum (Hosted by The Current/The Splash)

This event was put together by Civic teachers all throughout the Valley high schools (EV, WV, CV and U-Hi). High School students worked with their teachers to put together one specific question for each candidate and an opportunity for a rebuttal of their opponents question. Once the forum was completed, Spokane County then helped the students run a "Mock Election." This was a great opportunity for the students to interact with the candidates and learn how this election process works. There were several students who spoke at length with Candidate Peetz. They said they related with her and appreciated her clarifying a few issues. This is what the whole process is all about. What a great way to help our Valley youth get involved in what's going on in our community.
